Working with texts – the written word – is my passion. Words are so much more than just letters. Words have power. We think, speak and write – words. We create our personal reality out of words.
It may come as no surprise, but I also love books. And the English language. I adore Shakespeare, love Jane Austen’s novels and admire Margaret Atwood’s work. So, I became a philologist and worked for several publishers to learn how books are made from scratch.
When the opportunity presented itself, I decided to pursue a career with a global tech company. I realised our modern life would be unthinkable without technological progress. That’s when I started to become enthusiastic about technology. Many things I previously took for granted or never gave much thought to are highly exciting upon closer examination. Here are a few examples:
- Glass consists primarily of sands that are melted at 1200 °C. The final product we know is physically the supercooled, solidified liquid.
- The way a machine vibrates tells you if damage is imminent and, if so, what kind of damage – long before any visual findings.
- Sensors enable modern agriculture to place seeds in the ground fully automatically, at exactly the right depth. They help calculate the exact amount of fertilizer needed and weigh crop yields down to the gram.
- Short- and medium-haul aircraft will probably be fully electric by 2035.
- Carefree bathing in a public swimming pool and not getting sick afterwards requires correct pool water treatment – anything but trivial.
I found the perfect blend of both worlds in marketing communications. For 15 years I marketed speciality glassware and engineering products. Now I want to do for clients in these and similar industries what I love doing most: working on and with their texts – as an editor and copywriter.
By dealing with these topics and facets of our modern world, I learn something new every day, am amazed and take pleasure in putting what is great about it into words that everyone will understand.
What makes me stand out? The combination of a passion for language and many years of marketing experience; of creativity and a structured way of working; of attention to detail and an eye for the big picture; of flexibility and commitment.
What can I do for your copy?
By the way, when I’m not sitting at my desk, I like to dance, paint or go for a walk in nature. And I have another passion.
